Ratu has now left the Monster Big Brother compound and returned to his old life. We asked him a few questions about his early exit.
So why did you leave?
I just didn't have the stamina for Monster Big Brother. I'm quite nervous by nature and I suppose all the shouting, screaming and jumping around was really getting to me. It also turns out that I need way more sleep than I thought I did.
Why did you chose to tunnel out?
I think it was just instinct, I certainly wasn't thinking straight. I also didn't want to give anyone the chance to talk me out of it.
Is there anything you'd like to say to your old Monster housemates?
Yeah, keep up the good work guys, you're doing great.

Day 7 - Cthulhu (Stripes) in the Diary Room
Monster big brother called Cthulhu (Stripes) into the diary room today, to ask him a few simple questions.
MBB: Hello Cthulhu, how are you today?
C: I have some sadness over Ratu's departure, but I feel otherwise fine
MBB: Cthulhu, how has your time in the house been so far?
C: Interminably dull, although I am somewhat inspired by Ratu's exit and hope to take a greater part in the life of this community from now on.
MBB: Who have you bonded with in the house?
C: Obviously my other Cthulhu compatriot is bonded to me in ways you mere mortals could not understand. Otherwise I like Marvin, I find him somewhat unpredictable and at my age that is saying something
MBB: Is there anyone you haven't bonded with in the house?
C: Swannie is a little too sickly sweet for my taste. Not that I'm planning to devour her, I have pledged not to do so, but still...
MBB: Thank you Cthulhu
C: You are welcome

Day 7 - Ganymede Explains it All
Ratu's escape from the Monster Big Brother house this morning has left the housemates in a sad and thoughtful mood. Even Marvin has been quiet. Strangely it seems that Ganymede has the most insight to share, he told the other housemates:
"It's sad that he's gone, but I think there was simply too much pressure on Ratu, I know that some of you are loving the implied attention of being under continual scrutiny, but Ratu was a clever monster and I think he understood that the facets of his personality were not all being equally displayed. Perhaps he felt he'd made some bad choices and couldn't see how to redeem himself."
Now is Ganymede still talking about Ratu, or is he talking about Ganymede?

Day 7 - Where's Ratu?
This morning Kelvin and Ganymede (the Monster Big Brother house's early risers) got up as usual and made tea and toast and small talk as usual. But then Ganymede noticed that the other morning monster was missing. He checked the garden and popped his head round the door of the bedroom, then he came back to Kelvin who was drinking tea in the living area.
"Where's Ratu?" he asked.
The two monsters immediately came to the Diary Room.
MBB: Good morning Monster housemates
G: Erm, where's Ratu?
MBB: Ratu left the Monster Big Brother House at 6.24am. He will not be returning.
K: But why?
G: I think I know why, he was overstimulated and suffering from sleep deprivation.
K: But that's no reason to leave. And he could have talked to us first.
MBB: Monster Big Brother cannot confirm Ratu's reasons for leaving at this time. Please inform the other Monster Housemates of his departure.
K: Wow, I'm a bit shocked.
So are we Kelvin, we know how you feel.

Day 7 - Ratu Walks!!
Early this morning Ratu escaped from the Monster Big Brother house!
He woke at 6am and nervously paced around the walls of the garden for 20 minutes, then he suddenly started to dig with his powerful front paws.
Within a few minutes he had emerged on the other side of the wall into the outer compound. Our counsellors were there to meet him and took him away to a secure location for a cup of tea and a chat.
The Monster Big Brother team then had to work to get the hole filled in before the other monster housemates woke up.
What were Ratu's reasons for leaving? And how will the other housemates react to his departure?

Day 6 - Into the Cave
Ratu woke up extra early this morning and dragged his duvet into the dinning area. Then he arranged the duvet over two chairs and sat underneath it.
When Kelvin woke up and came to the kitchen to make tea, he asked Ratu what he was doing.
"Spelunking" replied Ratu.

Day 3 - Nocturnal Creatures
Almost every Monster in the Big Brother house is awake more at night than during the day.
The Cthulhus are the most at home in the darkness, they often stay up till the early hours discussing the pressures of being such a popular Lovecraftian terror. Hector, Terrence and Kelvin have really bonded over their shared love of music and even Morris, who continues to be taciturn stays awake to listen to other people talk.
Swannie and Mabel and Madeline get more giggly after midnight and Ganymede will happily talk until dawn (even if no-one is listening). Marvin and Lurly Jack never seem to run out of energy and often keep the other housemates awake because they're so loud.
The only Monster continuing to crash out early is Ratu, so far he's fallen asleep at 11.45 each night. Awww.

Day 2 - A Rude Awakening
It was very early this morning before the last of the Monster Big Brother Housemates went to bed. So only one of them seemed pleased to be awake at 7am.
Marvin woke the other housemates by jumping from bed to bed and shouting "BIGBROTHERINSPACEBIGBROTHERINSPACEBIGBROTHERINSPACEBIGBROTHERINSPACE"
Lurly Jack screamed, Ratu growled, Hector hid under the duvet, Mabel started crying and Cthulhu Sky was cursing like, well like a Lovecraftian terror who's been woken up too early in the morning.
Swannie and Kelvin restrained Marvin on the floor and tried to calm him down. Through the hyperventalation and wild arm movements it started to become obvious that Marvin thought the Monster Big Brother House had been moved into orbit as they slept! Swannie took Marvin out to the garden in an attempt to convince him that they were still on Earth, Kelvin went to make some tea and everyone else went back to sleep.
In space? What kind of budget does he think this show has?

Day 1 - A Boys Night In
The monster boys and monster girls spent their first night in the house last night. Whilst the girls played hide and seek and explored the closets and drawers, the boys were drinking by the pool and playing a game of truth or dare.
Most of what went on was not surprising, they played who can hold their breath under water for longest and Ratu won with an impressive 7 minutes and 18 seconds. Ganymede admitted to a fondness for anchovy and dust bunny sandwiches, so winning the admiration of his housemates in the weirdest thing you ever ate category. And then Marvin told them about the thing with the cat, which was pretty strange.
But it got much stranger towards the end of the evening when Cthulhu (aka Sky) had to be escorted away by Cthulhu (aka Stripes) and Lurly Jack as he continued to shout at everyone "how many souls have you devoured? I mean really...how many".

Ratu is the Tenth Housemate
Welcome Ratu, the tenth Monster Big Brother housemate. Ratu says he's a nocturnal creature, so he tries to stay up all night, every night. For the record, his friends tell us that he's not really nocturnal. So he'll crash out around 11:45 and be really mad at himself in the morning. He's looking a little wide eyed now, but the crowd are cheering him on. Ratu comes from Beastlies and he's the only polymer clay monster in this year's Monster Big Brother house.
