Make Yourself at Home

So all 12 monsters are now in the house...let's leave them to get acquainted shall we. (I for one need a long lie down in a darkened room after all that excitement).

Keep following the blog over the next few weeks, for tasks, evictions, tantrums, friends and family and a possible smidgen of romance. Go on, you know you want to.

The Final Housemate is - Cthulhu

That's right, the final Monster Big Brother housemate is another Cthulhu, this could cause some embarrassment, especially if either of them are actually the Elder and not just his Cthulhi minions.

This Cthulhu claims that he's the cuddliest Cthulhu in all the land. He is made from a very soft wool in shades of lemon, tangerine, melon, pistachio and graham cracker. His ginormous eyeball is a lovely shade of sparkling spring green and he's eyeballing the crowd with it now.

Cthulhu comes to the Monster Big Brother house from UglyGerbil. At first the crowd were a little wary, but they're warming to him now, he's certainly majestic as he waves all his tentacles at different parts of the crowd whilst opening the door to the Monster Big Brother house.

Here's Terrence

Terrence is the kind of guy who enjoys a nice sunset, walks on the beach and a can of baked beans. He has a minor penchant for stolen socks and tends to lose the ones he collects. Terrence once dreamed of being a news anchor but his side-bite - common to his sub-species of monster - proved to be too great to correct so he chose to go into radio DJing instead.

Terrence is from SquareJane and you can tell that he's an experienced entertainer because the crowd outside the Monster Big Brother house are really cheering for him.

Ratu is the Tenth Housemate

Welcome Ratu, the tenth Monster Big Brother housemate. Ratu says he's a nocturnal creature, so he tries to stay up all night, every night. For the record, his friends tell us that he's not really nocturnal. So he'll crash out around 11:45 and be really mad at himself in the morning.

He's looking a little wide eyed now, but the crowd are cheering him on. Ratu comes from Beastlies and he's the only polymer clay monster in this year's Monster Big Brother house.

Please Welcome - Swannie

Only the third lady monster in the Monster Big Brother House, Swannie is a sweet monster who loves to giggle and hide in dresser drawers and cupboards. She's passionate about the environment and is actually stuffed with a polyester fibre made from recycled plastic bottles.

Swannie is from Gush4Plush in Canada. She's such a cutie, she's giggling as she waves to the crowd and they adore her.

Here Comes Ganymede

The eighth Monster Big Brother housemate is Ganymede, he's a little uncoordinated and shy. He says he hopes he'll meet some interesting monsters in the house who can have intelligent conversations about relevant and profound topics, his pet peeve is when people say he's "horny". He hates that because it "lacks imagination".

Ganymede comes from NattyKnits and his friends tell us that the last time he was in a popularity contest he was beaten by a pillowcase. A few boos from the crowd there, I think his intellectual tendencies may work against him.

Lucky Number 7 is - Morris

This is Morris, he hates Mondays...in fact he hates everyday...and his job...and ties...and scratchy cardigans. He says he's looking for someone to cheer him up, but it seems it might be quite a task.

Morris also comes from KitschEnd it's quite possible that he knows Kelvin, although as the housemates have been kept separate he doesn't know that there may be a familiar face in there...oh, he's glowering at the crowd and they don't like it. Oh no, they're booing him. He's walked straight past the press cameras and now he's practically running into the Monster Big Brother house. Poor Morris!

Housemate(s) Number 6 - Mabel and Madeline

The sixth housemate(s) tonight and our first lady monsters are Mabel and Madeline Mabel loves drawing great danes, eating rootbeer candy and brushing her teeth. Madeline loves swimming, sewing up new quilts, and growing new plants. I'm pretty sure there won't be any great danes in the Monster Big Brother house, but you never know...

Mabel and Madeline look very glamorous for their entry into the house, they both have very shiny teeth and beautifully curled whiskers. They come from LaurenSmash in San Francisco and from the crowd reaction I can tell they're going to be popular.

It's Marvin!

Marvin
is the fifth Monster Big Brother Housemate and he's a little exuberant. Ok, a lot exuberant. Ok, he’s maybe a bit of a spaz. He says he’s very sorry about that whole thing with the cat. He also says that a shot of whiskey does calm him down, but you do NOT want to see him drunk...seriously. Aw, lookit him though, you just can’t stay mad at that face!

Marvin is jumping around and posing for the cameras, a bit of a mixed reaction from the crowd there, but his friends and family from UglyGerbil are right behind him.

Housemate Number Four Is - Hector

Hector is a truly international monster, he's a monstrochaussette who's lived in France and Sweden. This well traveled monster gent likes honey and disco music.

Wow! Hector is dancing for the crowd and the press, he's got some great moves, let's hope we see those again in the Monster Big Brother House.

Hector comes to us from RonRonCarre he's a real charmer and the crowd are loving him.

Three is a Magic Number - Lurly Jack

The third Monster Big Brother housemate is Lurly Jack. He is a screamer so it should make for some interesting drama with him in the house. Lurly Jack can be a good friend but will always speak his mind. He is worried about how his teeth will look on camera but he knows his hair will look fabulous.

Lurly Jack comes from J-Squared Jewelry and yes, he is a pendant, which is causing a few issues for the press photographers. The crowd love him though, they're chanting something, can you hear that? "Lur-ly-Jack, Lur-ly-Jack" He's responding with a good long scream.

Say Hello To - Cthulhu

The second housemate to enter the Monster Big Brother House is Cthulhu

Cthulhu is in the house to raise awareness about tentacles. He says, "I'm fed up with people thinking tentacles are always part of weird Japanese porn". Cthulhu is already a celebrity in his own right, you may recognise him from the work of H P Lovecraft, but he's been seen most recently in Alan Moore's graphic novels The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and in a short story by Neil Gaiman.

As one of the "Elder Gods", we think that Cthulhu is the oldest housemate ever to appear on Monster Big Brother, he estimates his age at 12,844,991,203 earth years.

Cthulhu is currently settled at trinlayk.etsy.com but he's always searching for a home and souls to devour. Now he's waving his tentacles expansively to the crowd as he disappears inside the Monster Big Brother House.

The First Housemate - Kelvin

The first housemate to enter the Monster Big Brother house is Kelvin.

Kelvin is very attached to his hoodie and he likes to let his mum think he's a bad boy. Actually, he spends his evenings rescuing cats from trees and helping old ladies across the street.

Kelvin comes from TheKitschEnd and judging by the crowd response here I'd say he's an early favourite. He looks nervous, he didn't take his hands out of his pockets, even when he was posing for the press.

The Crowds are Gathering

Despite the secret location of the Monster Big Brother House. Crowds have already begun to gather to watch the monster housemates as they enter the house. Even though they won't go in for another two days!

Monster Big Brother Blog spoke with a few of the monsters who were waiting:

John, a troll from Kingston-upon-Hull said "I always say I'm going to come for the first day, but I never do. This year I managed to get a bridge-sitter, so here I am"

Hilda, a small purple borogrove from Texas added "woooooooooo woooo...I love Monster Big Brother...I love it...it's brilliant...woooooo wooooo"

The crowd is waiting, we're just a few days away from Monster Big Brother.

The Monster House is Waiting

On Monday 8th June, a group of monsters will be entering the Handmade Monster Big Brother House. They don't know one another yet, but they'll soon be spending 24/7 together.

There have been plenty of rumours in the media. Will there really be a famous monster in the house? What about the twins? And how many of them will be hand knitted?

Will they be the best of friends or will someone get eaten? Watch this space.
