Day 23 - All Shall Have Prizes

The Group Hug task is over!

Monster Big Brother told the housemates that they had passed the task with flying colours:

"Until this morning there were no duration records for the Group Hug, so you have set the first record at 2 hours and 20 minutes . Congratulations Monster housemates. As a reward you have all won a selection of luxury spa treatments. Kelvin and Swannie, because you held the hug for the longest time you have been rewarded a romantic dinner for two."

Swannie let out a little squeal when she heard the news and Kelvin started to blush.

Day 23 - Group Hug is Go

The final five Monster Big Brother housemates are locked together in a big cuddly group hug, because this week's task is an attempt to break the record for the longest held group hug.

They've been hugging for an hour now, but the cracks are starting to show. Terrence needs to pee and Hector has a cramp, Ganymede is complaining because he doesn't have arms and hugging with his horns is too difficult. Only Swannie and Kelvin are still giggling about it.

Day 23 - Where's the Task At?

The monster housemates were all up early this morning to see what Monster Big Brother had delivered during the night.

Today is task day, but there was no special equipment in the house and as yet, there are no special instructions.

Kelvin was nervously making tea and toast when Monster Big Brother called all the housemates to the diary room.

Here's what Monster Big Brother said:

"Today, you will all take part in an attempt to break the world record for the longest ever group hug.

When you leave the Diary Room an alarm will sound, this will signal the beginning of the group hug, all housemates must be touching at least two other housemates at all times for the hug to be valid.

If a housemates breaks away from the hug they will be eliminated.

The last two housemates in the hug will receive a special prize for themselves. The reward for the other housemates will depend on the length of time spent hugging."

It looks like the final five are going to get very close.

Day 16 - Task Results

We will now go live to the Monster Big Brother House to hear the results of the task.

Monster Big Brother: "Monster Housemates, you are live on the blog, please do not swear. Earlier this afternoon you completed the Overcoming Obstacles task. You were asked to complete the task in under five minutes. However, your total team time was 5 minutes and 37 seconds. Therefore you have not passed this week's task".

The monster housemates all look very disappointed and Ganymede is kicking the sofa leg, oh hang on he's fallen over. Poor clumsy Ganymede.

So the monsters get no reward tonight, I suppose they'll have to make their own entertainment.

Day 16 - A Troublesome Task

The monster housemates completed the Overcoming Obstacles task this afternoon. Here's how they got on.

Cthulhu was the first to attempt the course, although his many tentacles got entangled in the netting and it took him valuable seconds to get free, Marvin went next, speeding round the course in what felt like a record time, he made it through the netting, over the wall, onto and along the balance beam and over the see-saw without even breaking a sweat. Then it was Hector's turn, he kept up a good speed too and the anxious monster housemates gave him a huge cheer when he made it over the wall, which had been giving him trouble during practice.

Ganymede was next and he was doing very well until he came to the end and fell off the see-saw, twice! His housemates commiserated with him as Swannie took her turn, her graceful nature was a real asset and she was surprisingly quick over the wall too.

Morris was the next up, he was very fast and agile, shocking his housemates into silence, then Kelvin took the next relay leg, although not as fast he didn't make any mistakes. He was followed by Mabel and Madeline who were speedy although a little clumsy. And finally Terrence took the last leg of the relay with the monster housemates screaming their encouragement all the way.

Have they completed the course in under five minutes?

We'll be live at the monster Big Brother house later for the results of the task.

Day 16 - The Overcoming Obstacles Task

The monster housemates are in training to complete an assault course that Monster Big Brother placed in the garden overnight.

If ALL the monster housemates can complete the course in under five minutes they will win the task and a special reward. If they fail to make it around in under five minutes they get nothing.

They will run in relay, but earlier this morning they were taking a long time to decide which order they should run in:

"I think the weaker members of the team should run first" said Cthulhu "by which I mean myself and Ganymede, no offense meant".
"None taken" said Ganymede, this is a terrible task for me and I really don't want to go first"
"But the rest of us can make up the time you'll lose" said Kelvin
"And the pressure will be off you" insisted Hector
"Believe me, the pressure is very much on me" said Ganymede sadly.
"I want to go first" shouted Marvin "this is FUN!!!!"

The obstacle course will be run at 2pm this afternoon. Let's hope they can work it out by then.

Day 16 - Assault with an Assault Course

Ganymede's first words this morning were "B*l@#cks, B*l@#cks, B*l@#cks"

And what caused this outburst?

There's an assault course in the Monster Big Brother garden and today is task day. The self confessed "clumsy" three legged monster is not happy.

Day 15 - Taking Them to Task

Tomorrow is task day in the Monster Big Brother house and there's already excitement in the air.

Marvin has been running around all morning singing "I love the task...I love the task...I love the task"

"How can you love it when you don't know what it is?" asked Hector

Day 4 - What's in the box?

A monster party of course!

There were lots of goodies in the box including chocolate mice for Kelvin and honey for Hector. Lurly Jack got some hair gel and Mabel got some rootbeer candy, there was also some alcohol, party hats and a music request list with plenty of disco.

Looks like it will be a Monster Big Brother House party tonight

Day 4 - House Hero

Earlier today the Monster Big Brother housemates received their first task in the form of a large metal box full of luxury items which they have been challenged to open. So far they have found a keyhole, but no key.

Terrence organised the monster housemates into search parties to find the key which they all agreed must be hidden in the house somewhere. They turned the Monster Big Brother house upside down looking for the key.

The housemates only had 23 minutes left of the three hours given to them to open the box when Lurly Jack had an idea.

Jack ran over to the box and examined the lock "I can open this!" he shouted. The other monster housemates came running back and watched in awe as Lurly Jack slid his credit card like body into the gap between the hatch and the box, he shook and shimmied and before you could say pendant-tastic the little hatch was open.

His monster housemates shouted and screamed with joy and gave Lurly Jack lots of hugs, even Ganymede and Morris joined in the congratulations. Then the monster housemates set about emptying the box.

Day 4 - An Impossible Task

As soon as Mabel and Madeline finished reading the instructions for the task all the monsters started to talk at once.

They all had ideas for how to get into the box, except for Marvin who just climbed on top of it and started jumping. Ganymede suggested that they needed tools and Cthulhu (Stripes) passed his tentacles over the surface of the box, checking for openings.

"Aha" said Cthulhu (Stripes) as he lifted the edge of the box from the floor, dislodging Marvin in the process "there's a small keyhole on the underside of the box, help me turn it over".

The monsters all put their backs into it and after some serious grunting (mostly from Hector) the adamantium box was the right way up and the monster housemates were staring at a small hatch and a tiny keyhole.

"Where's the key?" said Kelvin.

Where indeed?

Day 4 - A Big Box of Mystery

The Monster Big Brother housemates woke up this morning to find a huge metal box in the living room.

There was a great deal of discussion about what it might be, Terrence said he could smell food inside it and Cthulhu (Stripes) wondered aloud whether it might contain a new housemate, perhaps in pieces (euw!). Then Monster Big Brother called Mabel and Madeline to the diary room where they found the instructions for the first Monster Big Brother Task. The girls read the instructions to the rest of the housemates:

"Monster Big Brother has delivered a large metal box to the living room." said Mabel.
Madeline continued "It contains luxury items specifically requested by every monster housemate. Your task is to open the box."
Mabel and Madeline then started reading in unison "Please be aware that the box is made of adamantium and cannot be broken into by force. You have three hours to open the box, starting from now. Good luck."

Come back soon to see the monster housemates tackle this task.

Day 3 - The Task Ahead

Tomorrow the Monster Big Brother housemates will get their fist task. There will be a number of tasks for the Monsters during their stay in the house. The tasks might require physical strength, mental alacrity or the ability to work as a team.

If they pass the task they will get some luxury items, maybe some honey for Hector or Dust Bunny sandwiches for Ganymede. If they fail the task, they get nothing.

Watch this space.
